Dear PCS Members,
Please see the attached announcement by HXPCS Election Committee regarding the upcoming general members meeting for elections and voting on amended Bylaws.
Here is an excerpt of some essential information from the announcement. Please refer to the attachment for the full text.
Date/Time: Sunday, June 2, 2013, 1:30p.m. - 5:00p.m.
Location: Lower Cafeteria, WW-P High School North
Purpose:
1. Annual Election of school Principal / Assistant Principal and Board of Trustees.
2. Vote on proposed amendment of HXPCS Bylaws (i.e., The Bylaws of HX Chinese School at Plainsboro Revised on May 19, 2013 and adopted by the Board of Trustees of HXPCS, sent to all members on May 20, 2013 by the Principal).
Election and Voting Procedures:
· 1:30 pm: Members of the Election Committee arrive at the registration desks.
· 1:45 pm: Candidates report to the Election Committee at the registration desks.
· 2:00 pm: Election begins. Early ballot drop-off begins.
· 2:05 pm: Q&A on Bylaw Amendment, presented by the Bylaw Amendment Task Force.
· 2:15 pm – 2:45 pm: Speeches by the Candidates, each has 5 minutes.
· 2:45 pm – 3:30 pm: Q&A session for the Candidates: 1 minute for each question, and 2 minutes for the reply.
· 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm: Ballot casting continues.
· 4:15 pm: Ballot casting ends and the Election Committee start ballot counting.
· 5:00 pm: Ballot counting ends. Election ends.
All PCS members are strongly encouraged to participate this important meeting. In addition to the customary annual elections, there will be a voting on the amended Bylaws. If you haven’t got a chance to learn about the changes, I highly recommend you spend some time to familiarize yourselves with the major changes as highlighted in the “Summary and Q&A” document previously distributed on May 20. For your convenience, I have attached the same 4 Bylaw related documents from the May 20 announcement.
If you don’t have time to go over all the detailed amendments, I’d like to bring your attention is the very first question in the Q&A document that provides the basic rationale.
Q: What are the purpose and intention of this amendment?
A: This amendment was done to eliminate holes and loopholes in the current Bylaws,
clarify ambiguities, and balance the powers of GM, Board, and the School Administration. In doing so, we hope that the GMs’ interest will be better represented and served. It is also intended to help ensure the stability and smooth operations of the School.
