Graduation Ceremony and Year End Party This Sunday
This Sunday, 23 graduates of the Class of 2014 will be donning caps and gowns and be sent off with pomp and celebration. All students will be receiving their report cards. “Certificates of Excellence” will be awarded to outstanding students. One student from each class will be awarded “The Most Improved Student”.

Please come celebrate this milestone of our graduates of the HXNYC Class of 2014. Come thank our teachers and meet the volunteers.

The PTA will throw a reception party immediately after the ceremony. Light lunch, refreshments and cake will be served to all. Click here to view the Graduation Ceremony and Year End Party Program.

There is still time to register in person! Registration help is available this Sunday in the lobby of AAB theatre between 10am and 12:30pm.

If you are a returning family, you can log in with your previous login id. For new families, you will need to create a login account before registering and enrolling online. For assistance, please send your inquiries to regist...@hxnyc.org. You are welcome to visit us at Westchester Community College to register in person during school hours. Our school hours are 9:30-12:30 on Sunday mornings. The last school day is June 22nd for this academic year.

If you register and enroll by June 30th, you will save $50 for each enrolled student. Personal checks, PayPal and credit cards are accepted.

Important Class Offering Updates

We are offering a Pre-K 3 class (学前小班) which accepts students who were born on or before 12/31/2011 and a Pre-K 4 class (学前中班) which accepts students who were born on or before 12/31/2010. The hours for both Pre-K classes are  9:30am - 12:00pm.

Meizhou Huayu (美洲华语) Grade 1 through Grade 9 is open for registration.

We have redesigned two culture classes in anticipation of the new SAT to be unveiled in 2016.  Classes of "Advanced Math" and "Advanced Reading & Writing" are now being offered to students who are in 8th grade and above.  Please refer to the New Culture Classes (2014-2015) below for details. 

New Culture Class Listing (2014-2015)

Advance Math Sr. 高级数学大班
This class intends to provide a comprehensive review of basic mathematics, algebra, geometry and statistics concepts. Each class consists of a discussion of math concepts, history, formulas and any questions the students may have about the concepts. As the newly revised SAT test will be unveiled in 2016, this class will focus more on learning the actual math concepts as opposed to the test-taking strategies and skills. *Enrollment is open to 8th grade and above.  A $50 material fee will apply.

Instructor: Dr. Yilong Ni, B.A. and M.A. in Mathematics from University of Science and Technology of China. Ph.D. in Mathematics from Yale University. Has taught Calculus and Differential Equations in college.

Advanced Reading and Writing Sr. 高级阅读写作大班
This class will focus on evidence-based reading and writing aligned with the Common Core Curriculum and the redesigned SAT. Students will be introduced to carefully selected materials ranging from literary works to science articles to historical texts.  Real time essays on current events will also be considered.  Students will practice developing ideas, reasoning with persuasive elements, and connecting evidence with arguments beyond simply picking one.  The core knowledge and useful skills will help prepare students for college and working careers. *Enrollment is open to 8th grade and above.  A $50 material fee will apply. Competition Math 竞赛数学大班
This class is primarily aimed at 5th and 6th graders. It exposes students to types of math problems that often appear in math competitions, but not in standard regular school math classes.  Instructor: TBD

Calligraphy Sr. 书法大班
This class will teach the students to appreciate the beauty of Chinese characters and the order of the strokes that form each Chinese character. With more and more students using Pinyin input to compose in Chinese on the computer, the art of hand-written characters is being diminished. Not only will this form of art help students with their language learning, it will help them appreciate thousands of years of Chinese culture. Instructor: TBD

Debate Club Sr. 趣味辩论俱乐部 (大班)
越来来越多的家长意识到辩论活动对孩子发展的重要性。辩论帮助提高学生的逻辑思维和批判性思维能力,提高领导才能。辩论帮助提高学生的学业成绩和申请大学的竞争力。本课寓教于乐, 旨在提高学生对辩论的兴趣,教授辩论的基本原则,为学生提供大量的演讲和辩论的机会。为中文学校的辩论比赛和其他的辩论比赛做准备。

本课由两位教师主持。张岚多年致力于组织各种学生演出活动,鼓励学生登台演讲表演。丁晓红多年担任中文学校辩论队的教练,她所带的辩论队取得了耀人的成绩。

Logic Puzzles Jr. 逻辑游戏小班
This class will introduce students to different types of logical and math puzzles. In the process, they will be exposed to different reasoning methods. Instructor: TBD

Supervised Gym Activities 室内球类活动大班
Students taking this class will spend an hour participating in supervised gym activity at the WCC indoor gym. Activities include badminton and basketball. Students are expected to provide their own badminton racquets and basketballs. Enrollment in this class is limited to eight, and students have to be 12 years of age or older.  Supervisor: TBD

WCC reserves the right to close the gym on a couple of Sundays every semester, sometimes at short notice to host athletic events. When this happens, the parent-on-duty at the gym will guide the students back to the AAB office area where they will spend the time in quiet study.

Web Design 网页设计大班
In this class students will learn the basics of designing and developing a web site, HTML and its syntax and elements, how HTML is used for organizing and formatting content on a web page. Dos and Don’ts in web design. By the end of the class, the students will have acquired a good understanding of what web design is all about, and have the ability to take it further. Instructor: TBD
