Friends and Neighbors in BHN / HWEN / 12South,

I would like to invite you all to attend an important public meeting to discuss crime in our respective neighborhoods and learn more about what we, as residents and business owners, can do to help prevent crime and how to appropriately react to it.  After hearing from numerous residents who have fallen victim to recent criminal behavior, I felt this meeting was necessary to address what seems to be an increase in criminal activity, including burglaries and drug dealing, in our neighborhoods.  The MNPD, specifically Chief Anderson and Sgt. Twana Chick, has been very responsive and quick to address all of our concerns, follow leads, increase patrols, etc., and they immediately and courteously accepted my invitation to lead a public meeting on this very important issue.  During the meeting, they will be discussing various aspects of crime prevention, neighborhood watch, and other ways that we can assist them in preventing and responding to criminal activity, as well as answering your questions.

Public safety is a top priority for us, as your neighborhood organization leaders, and it is also an issue on which our elected state and local officials are focused every day.  I hope that you are all able to attend this informative meeting and subsequently use the information provided to help make our neighborhoods safer for our families, businesses and visitors.

I would like to extend a personal thanks to Councilman Jerry Maynard and the Southside congregation for graciously hosting us, as well as neighborhood leaders, Tom Cash, Will Carney and Tim Holman, for their assistance in planning this event.

Sincerely,

John Ray Clemmons
BHN President
