Dear Neighbors,

We would like to share several upcoming construction activities that may affect access and traffic flow in and around campus over the coming months.

 

Vanderbilt Place closure  |  May 22–28
Restoration preparation activities, including demolition, grading and binder work, will occur daily from 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Traffic impacts

  • One lane closure on 25th Avenue South will occur May 26–27, from 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • There will be no access to the Schulman Lot or SLC Garage during this work.
  • Pedestrian traffic will remain open.
  • Signage and flaggers will be onsite to help direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic safely.

 

Stevenson Center 6 Engineering Building blasting activities
JE Dunn and Civil contractors will conduct periodic blasting operations as part of ongoing SC6 building deconstruction work.

  • Start Date: May 25
  • Duration: Approximately four weeks
  • Hours: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.


Safety measures

  • Three horn notifications will sound one minute prior to each blast.
  • Inspections will take place after each blast to confirm the area is safe and clear.
  • Vibration levels will be continuously monitored to ensure surrounding buildings are not affected.

 

Garland Avenue closures

Eastern Garland Avenue

May 11 through mid-September 2026: Detours and pedestrian reroutes will be in place. Access to Stevenson Center Lane will shift during this period.

 

Western Garland Avenue

June 22 through November 9, 2026

 

Tower crane erection
July 17–19: Short-term road closures and pedestrian delays are expected near McTyeire.
