All- in the last few days a lot of homes have been brought back up across the district. I know there are many still without- crews are working through remaining. Check in on neighbors as you have been and as you’re able.
There are still a lot of questions and I’m attaching a FAQ we got yesterday from NES that covers a lot.
Know that Council and the Mayor’s office will soon investigate the recovery effort and work to improve crisis response, better communication going forward, etc. Right now we’ve got to get to 100% restored.
NDOT has hired extra brush crews and guidance, due to the excessive amount and size of piles, some “pre-crews” are coming around making sure piles aren’t overly blocking streets, fire hydrants, etc. You may have seen crews pushing brush back to prep for lifts
and chippers. Best to keep from blocking sidewalks, but if partially blocked, it’s unfortunate but temporary. (ie, if they’re currently there, don’t move). If piles are
close to curb but accessible on private property, crews should be getting them as they’re able.
Reminder that trash and recycling pick up has changed to a 4-day schedule which started this week- while playing catch up from last. It looks like most if not all District 18 is Thursday but you can always see pickup fir your address
here.
Nashville Responds is a great resource for all kinds of assistance, directing folks to food, medical, financial help. Check it out if you haven’t.
There are still lines amongst the mess. Know that live electric wires have been priority. See one? Call 911. Most still left in/near ROW are cable, internet lines. Fire Department crews are going around marking and/or adjusting until companies or utility
companies can address.
Best,
Tom Cash
