Nashville EOC to Partially Activated at 12 pm

Strong storms are expected to arrive in Davidson County between 1pm and 5pm

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 19, 2018) – In anticipation of the arrival of strong and potentially dangerous storms the Nashville Office of Emergency Management will partially activate the Emergency Operations Center at 12 pm.

According to the National Weather Service, Davidson County is in the enhanced risk area for these storms, and the main hazards are damaging winds, hail and possible tornadoes.

The window of greatest potential for our area is currently from 1pm – 5pm, so rush hour traffic and school activity could very possibly be impacted by these storms.

Please share with your employees to know where the storms are prior to leaving work and have appropriate plans in place so they don’t get stuck on the roads during the highest severity of the storms.

Representatives from Nashville Fire Department, Metro Nashville Police Department, Metro Nashville Public Schools, Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Planning/GIS, Emergency Communications Center, Public Works, Metro Water, ITS Desktop, NES, MTA, American Red Cross, Metro Parks and Amateur Radio will gather in the EOC to monitor the weather and respond as needed.

Once partially activated, updated information will be released from the Emergency Operations Center as it

becomes available, and media should utilize the EOC Media Line (615) 862-8540 for specific requests.

When the EOC partially activates the Nashville Emergency Response Viewing Engine (NERVE) will activate. NERVE is an interactive mapping site designed to provide timely information relating to natural or man-made emergencies in Nashville, TN.

As an emergency arises, the site will provide information about road closures, evacuation areas or routes, shelters and relief centers. Use this site to see what is happening around you or to find a path to your destination which avoids closed roads or other obstructions.
