The news you can reuse from Nashville Department of Waste Services

Keep Your Recycling Dry – Repair or Replace Your Cart Lid!

Cartoon recycling cart in the rain

With all the rain we’ve had in Nashville lately, it’s more important than ever to keep your recycling dry. Wet paper and cardboard can’t be recycled, so a broken or missing cart lid can mean wasted valuable materials.

If your recycling cart lid is damaged or missing, contact HubNashville on the HubNashville app, online at Hub.Nashville.gov, or by calling 311 to request a repair or replacement lid.

Keeping your cart in good shape helps ensure recyclables stay clean, dry, and ready for recycling.

Opt for Less on International Day of Zero Waste

Every year, billions of tons of waste are generated worldwide, but waste management services struggle to keep up.

This year’s International Day of Zero Waste on March 30 highlights the fashion and textile industry’s role in the waste crisis.

textile waste

Clothing production has doubled since 2000, yet 92 million tons of textiles end up in landfills or incinerators annually. To reduce waste, we must shift toward circular solutions like reuse, repair, and recycling.

all you need is less

Choosing durable, high-quality clothing over fast fashion helps conserve resources and supports a more sustainable future.
