Welcome to Hwa Chong Scout Group, Singapore*.
Formerly The Chinese High School Scout Group (renamed on 1 Jan 2005 to reflect the merger between The Chinese High School and Hwa Chong Junior College), we are established in 1919 (in the same year as the School is founded) on 23 November as 7th Singapore Troop.
As the first Chinese-speaking Scout Troop established in the Southeast Asian region in the pre-World War II period, The Chinese High School Scout Group is also the first troop to restore Scouting in Singapore's Chinese schools after the war in 1946 by our alumni Dr Yu Meng Lun, Mark (appointed as the District Scoutmaster for Chinese-speaking troops, and later Assistant Chief Commissioner for Special Duties).
The Group henceforth earned the honour of being named the First Singapore Chinese Troop after officially registering with the Singapore Scout Association on 9 August 1947.
Our subsequent Group Numbers include 51st Southwestern Troop, 2205 (Tanglin District) and Tanglin 05 before HQ discontinued the use of such a system in 1989.
Hwa Chong Scout Group currently consist of 2 Scout Troops, 1 Venture Scout Troop, 1 Rover Crew and our own Scout Guild, which is also a member chapter of the Singapore Scout Guild.
We also have our very own Lion Dance Troupe (formed in 1983) and the only Scout Bugle Band (formed in 1966) within the Association.
Membership totals to about 120, inclusive of adult leaders but not including Scout Guild members.
To date, we have produced 6 King Scouts, 1 Queen Scout and 95^ President Scouts, tallying to 102^ members gaining the top Scout Awards of the Senior Scout section (pre-1968) and later Venture Scout section (1968 to date) in the Republic before and after Independence in 1965.
Another 115 members have gained the Scout Cord and the Chief Commissioner's Award, the highest award in the Scout section.
Our members have stood by the Scout Promise and Law, the Motto of "Be Prepared" as well as the core values of "Wisdom, Benevolence, Courage", "Doing a Daily Good Turn" and "Service as the Goal of Life" in the fine traditions of Chinese-speaking troops, serving God and country as proud alumni of the School and the Group with many holding respectable positions in the Civil Service and the private sector.
Notably, the late Chief Scout Mr Ong Teng Cheong, the first popularly-elected President of the Republic was also a prominent alumni of the School!
Once a Scout, always a Scout. The flags of the School and the Group would fly high in the hearts of our members wherever they are, whether in Singapore or overseas!
Besides active in Scouting, our members are able to excel in their school work as well. So far, the Group has a President Scholar and a couple of Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Overseas/Merit Scholars to its name, not to mention the numerous Public Service Commission (PSC) Scholars and recipients of other prestigious scholarships from statutory boards and private organisations.
As a testimonial to the success of the School's stature as a premier institution in Singapore, our members have displayed consistently good performance during the annual Ministry of Education-University of Cambridge GCE "O" Level examinations. With the School launching the 6-year "through-train" integration programme officially in 2004, our members shall continue the tradition of balancing academic studies and Scouting!
The Scout Den is currently located at the activity room above the indoor squash courts, Kah Kee Hall Building. Den Office is at the Co-Curricula Activity Training Shed behind Kong Chian Administration Building (formerly Kong Chian Library). Activity time is on Saturday 9.00am - 12.00pm .

新加坡南洋华侨中学童军团 (下称 华中童军团)* 始创于1919年11月23日，与母校同年成立，堪称校内最早最资深的课外活动制服团体。时团号为“星加坡第七团”，亦是南洋地区（今泛指新加坡、马来西亚等东南亚国家一带）二战前最早开展童军活动的华校童军团。
战后1946年，华中童军团由校友余孟伦医生(先后担任华校童军区长、总会特别事务助理总监）复办，亦为二战后南洋地区最早开始童军活动的华校童军团。因此，本团在1947年8月9日正式加入新加坡童军总会时，蒙授与“星华第一团”（星洲华人童子军第一团）的团号，对本地华校童军运动起着先锋作用！
本团先后沿用了“西南区51团”、“2205”（东陵区）、“东陵05”等团号，1989年后一度归属西区(1989-2006)之下的武吉知马区及纽顿区（1999－2001），今划属西北区之下的武吉知马区。
华中童军团现下辖童军分团甲、乙共2团、勇捷童军分团（即香港童军总会之深资童军、中国童子军总会之行义童军）1团、青年童军（青年军）分团（即罗浮童军，香港童军总会之乐行童军）1团，并在2000年成立向全国童军团友会注册的华中团友支会。2005年,再注册成立华中总统童军团友支会。
此外，本团也在1966年创立童军乐队，1983年成立童军醒狮队，为童军活动增加多元色彩。值得一提的是，本团乐队为迄今全国各友团当中硕果犹存的唯一一支童军乐队。
本团团员人数现今约计120名。
迄今，华中童军团已培育了6位英王童军、1位英女王童军及95^位总统童军，共计有102^位团员在新加坡独立前后获颁总会高等童军组(1968年之前)及勇捷童军组(1968年迄今)的最高童军荣誉奖章。
目前亦累计有115位团员考获童军组别的最高荣誉章：Scout Cord及总监奖章。
我校杰出校友故王鼎昌先生在1994年担任首位共和国民选总统的同时，也是第一位华中出身的最高国家领导人暨童军总长！
历届团员校友秉着传统华校童军“智、仁、勇”的要求、“准备”、“日行一善”、“人生以服务为目的”的核心价值观及童军誓约的信念精神，在民事、公共部门、专业领域及私人企业界竭诚服务，执牛耳者颇不乏其人，堪称华中童军之光。
一日童军，一世童军，华中童军不论身居国内或海外，走到哪里，“华中”及“华中童军团”就在哪里！
本团团员在活跃于童军活动之余，亦不忘课业本分及导师、团长谆谆叮咛，为母校、本团争取荣誉。迄今，本团已有1位团员校友荣获我国政府最高荣誉的总统奖学金，及若干位团员校友荣膺新加坡武装部队海外奖学金、优异奖学金。至于我国政府所颁发的公共服务委员会奖学金及各部委、私人机构奖学金，本团历届得主更是不计其数！
母校在草创初期曾一度为南洋地区最高学府，历史悠久，近年来更是跻身我国最优秀的中学之一。本团团员在政府举办的新加坡教育部－英国剑桥大学普通教育证书“普通水准”历年考试当中，均有不俗的表现，充分证明了华中童军允文允武的能力，不但在活动方面积极进取，学业成绩亦不遑多让！2004年华中六年一贯“直通车”教育计划正式实行后，本团团员必能再接再厉，更上层楼。
1946年复团后，本团团部历经9次搬迁： (1) 旧礼堂（黄仲涵礼堂）后侧建筑（旧盥洗室原址，今礼堂“嘉庚堂”前走道部分）、(2) 大钟楼座入口右侧储藏室（团长室 - 1999年大钟楼座翻新完成，由于扩大入口需要，此室被拆除） 、(3) 旧体育部课外活动中心大楼左翼2楼（原址在高中部，即前华初第3讲堂）、(4) 旧礼堂旁第1讲堂地下室（原址在今新“黄仲涵纪念堂”左侧）、(5) 旧B座课室第2阶层建筑（今D座课室）、(6) 运动场新看台左翼平台建筑、（7） “光前馆”（今校长办公处“光前行政楼”，前课外活动中心、光前图书馆）1楼后侧、（8）礼堂“嘉庚堂”建筑后侧活动室（室内壁球场楼上）。2007年，“鼎昌楼”学生活动中心（原华中宿舍用地）落成，本团获拨活动室二间作为新团部，仍保留“嘉庚堂”活动室。团长室则位于“光前馆”后的课外活动训练棚。
