Hi Parents,
I do hope that you're receiving the email pictures from both Matt and
from Eric. Except for some spotty rain, we're enjoying great weather and
an even better trip. Our woven wall hanging is shaping up nicely, with wool
that the students cleaned in a creek, carded, dyed with natural dyes, and
then made into a thick yarn (with drop spindels that they made in their
Building class!) They have baked: soft crackers, cakes, veggies, etc..
They have cooked (lunches). They have been black-smithing (nails) and
they have done an impressive amount of work in the farm fields. Now, in
their building class, they're helping Donat (a trip leader) to make a
smoker (for meats) in the woodshop. Whew! They've been sleeping
well - and while a few have some bumps and scratches, they have
really enjoyed the trip. More pictures will be forthcoming. Again, we'll
start a phone tree about one hour before our arrival home on Friday -
sometime, within an hour we hope, of 4:45 pm.
Best regards,
Michael
