Dear Parents,
Here are some reminders and announcements for our farm outing...expect to see a similar email
sent to you over the weekend.
Pack only a snack & water bottle, not a lunch:
We will be stopping at the Vermont Welcome Center, which is about 2 1/2 hours into the trip. It's a nice rest stop where children will use the bathroom, stretch their legs, and have a bite to eat. There are some picnic tables where the children can have a snack (I'm bringing gluten-free snacks, sweet bread and cheese and nuts) - plus they can eat whatever snack you pack for them. If you have a small bag/backpack for the snack, while in the car, that would be great. School backpacks are rather large so try to avoid these. Small travel games can go into that small bag as well. We should arrive to Plowshare at about 11:30 and we'll get settled and then have the lunch with Kimberly and Donot.
Please try to pack light!
I know most of you have not yet packed - please take a good look at the bag and if there is anything you can possibly leave behind to lighten the load, please do so. Kimberly has 8 sleeping bags, so if you don't have one, don't worry about getting one. Additionally, Kimberly has pillows. Remember, students will not be allowed to take photos, so no cameras are needed.
We are leaving at 1:30 p.m. after lunch. The children will help make this meal and then then they will eat, clean up, and take a final look around to make sure they have everything. We chaperones will be helping the children press all their clothes back into their bags. We will likely hit some rush hour traffic. Someone will call Sally from the rest stop to let you know how we are doing. If we get delayed because of traffic I will call her again so you will have a better idea of our arrival time. We probably will get home somewhere between 5 - 6 p.m. (hopefully no later!)
Warmly,
Michael
