Hello fellow cider makers, apple growers, and others invested in the fermented pomme fruit...
Chelsea Green Publishing (Vermont, U.S., London, U.K.) has just released a book I've been working on for many years now. It's called "Uncultivated" and it's divided equally among the three topics: making cider, growing cider apples, and running a cider business. I won't try to sell you on it here but do note that it reads more as a novel and less as a "how to" (although there are elements of that too.) In fact, I expressly meant for it to address the many ethical, psychological and cultural issues that other cider books and organizations tend to overlook.
Uncultivated will be sold online via the publisher's website (
link) and also via Michael Phillips' Holistic Orchard Network (
link), which everyone recognizes, or should recognize, as the leading authority on organic orchard management. Not only does the HON offer free shipping but all profits go to supporting the Orchard Network. Please don't buy from Amazon, even if they can save you a dollar or two!
But getting to this Saturday... I'll be at
Westwind Orchard in Accord (Hudson Valley) selling the book at 20% off ($20) from 5pm- to 7pm. You can geek out on the subject (if the situation is intimate to do so) and I'd be happy to sign your copy too.
Thanks,
Andy Brennan
