Hello Aimee and the Slow Food crew,
I'm writing to let you know of a new funding opportunity for small
farmers, from the FruitGuys Community Fund. We are a new non-profit
(fiscally sponsored by Community Initiatives) started last year by The
FruitGuys LLC, to support on-going efforts in sustainable farming. Our
mission is to support small independent American farms in their
efforts for greater environmental and economic health, community
engagement, and advocacy that supports sustainable agriculture.
Please visit our website for more info:
http://fruitguyscommunityfund.org/welcome
In 2013 we funded 5 projects in California and Pennsylvania, and we
are hoping to increase the number of funded projects in 2014. Grants
in the amount of $2500-5000 will be made to farmers & agricultural
nonprofits to aid in making their farms more sustainable.
The deadline to apply is February 15, 2014 and I'd very much
appreciate you sharing this opportunity with those in your network!
While there is a geographic preference for farms located within 150
miles of Chicago, San Francisco, or Philadelphia, however we will also
consider farms outside those areas.
The grant application is attached or also available for download on
our website (
http://fruitguyscommunityfund.org/apply). We'd love to
support some more worthwhile projects in the Bay Area & beyond in 2014
and I'd really appreciate your help in getting the word out to people
who'd be interested in applying.
Thanks for all the great work you do to support good food! I know that
The FruitGuys has worked with Slow Food in the past in California, to
support Gravenstein apple farmers. Please contact me with any
questions you may have, or if you think there is an opportunity for us
to work together in the future in some capacity.
Kindly,
Kim Jordan
