Last Chance to Register for RPN's Upcoming Webinar Responsible Purchasing Announcement May 09, 2011 Title: RPN-SBC Webinar: Compostable Food Service Ware Date: Thursday, May 12, 2011 Time: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM (PDT) This Webinar provides a soup-to-nuts overview of how to specify and performance test compostable food service ware such as cutlery, plates, cups and take-out containers. Brenda Platt, Co-Chair of the Sustainable Biomaterials Collaborative (SBC), will summarize the important environmental attributes of “sustainable” biobased food service ware including, but not limited to, a high percentage of biobased content, commercial compostability, and the absence of hazardous additives. Alicia Culver, RPN’s Director, will describe recently created purchasing specifications for this product category. (Participants will be encouraged to test these Purchasing BioSpecs when they go out to bid over the next year.) Finally, Susan Kinsella, Director of Conservatree, will describe how she helped one municipality evaluate the performance of a broad range of compostable food service ware items to ensure that they meet the needs of a diverse range of institutional food service operations.
