Hi all - in case you missed the announcements in the recent editions of the Belfry (does anyone read it?) and Chalice Chat:
This Saturday May 5th, from 10AM to 4PM we will be having a weatherization work day to tighten up the church building and take action to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions - and their climate impact! Here's one of the previous announcements below:
Next Saturday May 5th - from 10AM to 4PM in the Sanctuary
Join us in our first congregation-wide Green Sanctuary effort, as we work together to save energy, water, and reduce our carbon footprint.
We will be guided by knowledgable volunteers from Cambridge HEET in several efforts:
- air-sealing leaky spots in our walls, floors, and ceilings
- reducing water and electricity use where possible
- weather-stripping doors
May 5th is also an international day of climate action sponsored by
350.org to "Connect the Dots" between CO2 emissions and Climate Change.
We will be using our creative energies throughout the day to make these connections real and to take steps to reduce our own emissions.
For questions about the event or to assist with logistics, contact Eric Broadbent (

Please come for an hour or two or as long as you can.
Enclosed is a PDF with info on the specific work teams and the number of volunteers and tools needed - we are NOwhere near having enough volunteers!
I know some of you will be participating in the Walk for Hunger the next day - but if you can spare 2 hours it will really be helpful.
Around 2pm we'll have a group photo to illustrate our efforts and send to the "Connect The Dots" campaign web-site.
