Kia ora Hutt Cycle Network,
We’ve got an engagement running at the moment I thought you might be interested in. We’re taking a close look at the streets in our city centre – how they look, how they feel, and how well they work for the people who use them every day – this will help us determine where and what we should focus our mahi on.
Some streets are already set for upgrades so they can integrate with Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (RiverLink) works, but what those changes look like and where else we should invest is still up for discussion.
You can find out more and share feedback at Shape the heart of your city | Have your say - Hutt City Council until 1 September 2025. Every bit of feedback goes in the draw to win vouchers from our city centre cafes.
Would love if you could please share with the wider Hutt Cycle Network. If you have any questions let me know 😊
Ngā mihi,

--------
Changes to city centre streets are on the way. We’ve got a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reshape and bring new life to our city centre as part of Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (RiverLink) – the programme of works to protect Lower Hutt from flooding, make it easier and safer to get around, and revitalise our city centre.
Work includes new stopbanks and the City Link Bridge which will provide vital protection and connections across the river. Right now, we’re developing a plan for where and what we upgrade on our city centre streets.
We’re running drop-in sessions in our city centre where you can see how these plans are taking shape and influence our decisions.
Drop in and see us at 174 High Street:
You can stop by anytime during these hours – no need to book.
Can’t make our drop-ins but want to know more? Send us an email at havey...@huttcity.govt.nz (or reply to this email) and we’ll get some info to you.
Ngā mihi,
Streetscapes Project Team
