Subject: Information for Hutt cyclists - Traffic management to be removed on SH2 at Silverstream next week
Kia ora
Works to connect Whakawhirinaki Silverstream Pipe Bridge to the drinking water network were successfully completed last week!
Final checks and corrosion protection of the new pipeline welds are being completed, and reinstatement of road surfaces will be underway in the next couple of weeks. We expect traffic management to be removed from SH2 at Silverstream on Wednesday 15 October, and from Fergusson Drive at the end of the month.
This means the northbound shoulder, adjacent to SH2 at Silverstream will remain closed until 15 October.
While the northbound shoulder is impacted, we’re advising cyclists to opt for alternative routes for their commute:
Cyclists can also use the train service between Manor Park and Silverstream.
As we near completion, we’re aiming to open the pipe bridge to the public at the end of October. Further updates on this will be provided via the project webpage and our social media channel.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve our region’s water supply resilience.
