NZTA have released details of the P2N Cycleway – summarising very old consultation, etc.  Copied from their website:

Public engagement report

We have released a consultation report summarising key feedback about the proposal for a new Wellington to Hutt Valley Walking and Cycling Link.

This report summarises feedback from consultation and engagement carried out with key stakeholders, landowners, interested user groups and the general public between November 2013 and March 2014.

Submissions showed there is significant support for improving walking and cycling between the Hutt Valley and Wellington City with 778 responses received.  These submissions have helped define the current issues and concerns people have with the existing shared path along State Highway 2.

The feedback demonstrated a clear preference for a seaside walking and cycling option as opposed to an improvement to the current roadside path.

Next steps

The information from the report will inform the completion of a Detailed Business Case about the Walking and Cycling Link.  The Transport Agency and its partners will then need to agree on recommendations outlined in the Detailed Business Case before selecting a preferred option.  This is expected to happen in the next two to three months. Once this has happened we will work towards applying for consent for our preferred option in 2016.
