Re the fate penalty. Have heard from folks at work that if you plead your case they reverse the penalty

Kind regards, Jo Clendon

Oh dear. It feels like every day it just gets harder for me to get to work
and back !
Got a big shock when I jumped on the Melling line on my first day back at
work to get off at Western Hutt (forgetting to tag off and being charged
triple the fare) and finding that I had to ride through the CBD.
Will see if they can stymie an approach from the Taita end !

It was pretty good for a while, probably a year ago, as someone who
commutes from Welly, with bike and or train/bike combos !
Thank you to all you folks who are putting in the hard work for us !

Cheers
Jeff

Hi Jeff - time to move back to Belmont😂. Not that we are without our own
Riverlink issues!!

I've been thinking about your problem. You could take the Upper Hutt train
to Waterloo station (seems bikes are allowed going N). Same cost as to
Melling. The Beltway cycle path (very nice along Oxford Terrace) will take
you to Naenae. Go up Walter Street (past Naenae Intermediate) - they have
recently made a nice cycle path up there which takes you on the footpath up
to High Street and then in front of Naenae College). There's even a marked
bike crossing on High Street. Wiggle through a few streets and you'll come
to Avalon Park. We're using that way a lot now as Lower Hutt has
completely lost its appeal!!

After Waterloo all stations cost more, but another option would be to get
off at Naenae and then use route above. Good luck

Yes I have gotten off at Taita before I think Elaine.
I am thinking I might just work more at NIWA at Greta Point instead !

Yeah, I ended up with 2 penalties, because I tried to tag off at about 3:45 pm ! They reimbursed me that one, but not the first. I will ring them and ask what the period of time is that you could tag off in. I am sure its not very sophisticated if they are charging me 15$ on a line that cant be longer than 5 $ ! No smarts in a system like that.

I think if you explain that it is all due to the changes to the Melling line that got you confused they should be lenient
