Membershipof the International Guide Dog Federation has a multitude of benefits. By becoming a member of the IGDF, an organisation gains access to a worldwide community of institutions dedicated to providing and improving safe, independent mobility of blind and visually impaired people.
IGDF also offers development support to new guide dog organisations through Applicant and Enquiring Organisation Status. Applicant and Enquiring Organisations can access developmental support and advice from the IGDF Development Committee to help build and develop guide dog services.
Each IGDF member organisation operates their own application and assessment process for being matched with a guide dog. You can find your closest IGDF member organisation (LINK) and follow their application process.
Guide dogs make an enormous difference to the lives of blind and visually impaired people. Not only do they bring the gift of independence, they also bring support, companionship and joy to people who really need it. The International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) relies solely on member contributions to continue our work. Help us give the gift of a guide dog to a blind or visually impaired person today!

GUIDE was formed in 1956; it was incorporated in 1970 as a non-profit organization under the name of GUIDE International Corporation.[1] At its peak GUIDE had a membership of around 2,000 companies and institutions.[2] As of 1990, GUIDE was the largest IBM users' group with 2850 members.[3] Its membership included fifty percent of the Fortune 1000 companies.[4]
"GUIDE's principal purposes are to contribute to the improvement of data processing products and services and to provide a forum for the development, exchange and dissemination of information concerning large data processing equipment and systems." "GUIDE's principal activity is the sponsorship of week-long conferences held three times each year."[5]
In the US GUIDE ceased operation in September 1999. Although the groups did not merge, many of GUIDE's activities and projects were taken over by SHARE, and GUIDE suggested to its members that they join SHARE. In August 2000, SHARE took over the

Seigo was the linebacker of guide dogs. He was nearly 100lbs and had this Goliath-sized head. I had Seigo during the years I trained for Everest and I like to believe that a touch of his incredible strength rubbed off on me at just the right time.
Willa was sweet and kind of quirky. She always made me laugh. She loved to steal laundry from the hamper and pile it in the living room! Unfortunately, Willa died too young from cancer.

Psychotropic medications are used regularly to manage problem behaviours among people with intellectual disabilities. This causes concern because often these medications are used out of their licensed indications in this context. The WPA Section on Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability has recently developed an evidence and consensus-based international guide for practitioners for the use of psychotropic medications for problem behaviours among adults with intellectual disabilities. This guide advises on assessment of behaviours, producing a formulation, initiation of treatment, assessment of out-come and adverse effects, follow-up arrangements, and possibility of discontinuation of treatment.

The Abridged Version of the International Stratigraphic Guide, like the Guide itself, was developed to promote international agreement on principles of stratigraphic classification and to develop an internationally acceptable stratigraphic terminology and rules of procedure in the interest of improved accuracy and precision in international communication, coordination, and understanding. It is not a revision of the Guide but a short version that omits history, explanatory text, and exemplification, the glossaries and the bibliography.
As more and more countries are seeking to adopt whistleblowing legislation, Transparency International has developed the Best Practice Guide for Whistleblowing Legislation for policy-makers and whistleblowing advocates on how to implement its International Principles for Whistleblower Legislation into national law.
It was done in collaboration with experts from Transparency International chapters who have successfully advocated for the adoption of whistleblower protection legislation in their countries. For each principle, the current guide sets out what constitutes current good practice and why. Where possible, it provides examples from existing national legislation or prospective best practice. The guide can be read as a whole or be used for specific principles that are of particular interest to the user, but always in tandem with the International Principles for Whistleblower Legislation.
The Guide is a living and breathing document and we will be adding new content as more statements and resolutions emerge. Please reach out to us via Twitter (@Privacyint) or email (
in...@privacyinternational.org) if you think there any additional references we should add, or topics you want us to cover.
