lmdb on network

Another lmdb library question: will it work on a network ie. one machine on network runs lmdb but db is on filesystem ?  Not looking for distributed database support (as in Hustle) but simply for one machine on cluster to access the db on a network attached filesystem (which is lustre-based) . Thx!
