to Turkey Tourney

Hello Huntsville Ultimate,

We are now 2-1/2 months away from the world famous Turkey Tourney: November 19-20!! This email is specific to Huntsville Teams for Turkey Tourney, so read to the end if you are interested in playing.

Details for this year’s festivities are still being worked out, but the current plan is to allow all valid local Huntsville teams to play. I’m not making that a promise yet, but that is the intent.

First, a few basics:

-          It’s a co-ed, roster-limited tournament. Team req’s are MAX 10 players, w/ no more than 6 male.

-          We’ll play with M/F ratio of 5/2 or 4/3, with Offense dictating each point.

-          Intend to have tiered pool play, as we have the last few years.

-          To qualify as a Huntsville Team, at least 7 of the players on roster must be Huntsville ultimate players. This basically means that you have played in a recent local league (HUSL &/or HUWL), are a regular pick-up player, or have strong ties to the community (hville players that have moved away – most will still count as ‘local’).

Entry fee for Huntsville Teams:

-          Homemade (no pre-packaged store bought) food for dinner Saturday night. # per team TBD.

-          Potentially, monetary bid fee as well as food. Have never done this before, but could be needed if we include a large number of local teams.

-          “Volunteer” Duties to help things run smoothly.

These are the steps to follow if you want to enter a Local/HSV team:

Step #1: Send email to “turkey.to...@gmail.comby Friday Sept 16, stating your intent to form a team. Include the current status of your roster, and if you want to be in the Upper/Elite Division, or the Lower/Rec division. This information will be used to make decisions about the total size of tournament, and number of out-of-town team spots that will be available.

Step #2: Partial Roster by Saturday Oct 1. Must have at least 7 players on roster, with at least 3 females, and 5 locals.

Step #3: Final Roster by Monday Oct 31

Step #4: Registered for all required Team Food Items and Volunteer Spots by Monday Nov 7

I think that’s enough to get you started. The Turkey Tournament is one of my favorite weekends of the year, and I know many of you feel the same way. Let's all work to make this year's event another success!

Thanks,

Ray

PS – Freaks & Method, Good Luck at Regionals this weekend!!
