Hurley Families,
There is another marijuana shop proposed for 552 Columbus Ave which may be of concern to local families and those who follow Columbus on the way to and from school. This time it’s recreational (not medical), again in a residential zone (a forbidden use per zoning code.) This location backs on a private alley with no available parking presenting many of the same traffic and security problems as the denied proposal at 633 Tremont. It also features a shuttle bus that will bring customers from Copley Sq to Columbus multiple times an hour. Details are attached.
The city’s official community meeting is this Thursday night at 6:30 at the Union Church, 485 Columbus Ave.
Please attend if you can. It’s important these high volume & security businesses locate where there’s appropriate infrastructure.
Best,
Noel Blair

Subject: Fwd: 552 Columbus Ave Cannabis Proposal - Please Forward to your NA/Friends
Hello SE NA Leaders & Friends,
There is a public meeting for a Recreational Cannabis location at 552 Columbus Avenue. I have attached a flyer that we have distributed to Claremont NA, Rutland Sq. NA, and Concord Sq, so extending this message to WASANA, Chester, Hurley, Blackstone, Pilot, and St. Botolph.
What is different for other SE proposals:
1.) This is the first recreational proposal in the South End (Tremont Street and Albany are medical).
2.) The first 2 proposals were "shopped" around for months and this was/is in less than/about 1 month and some might call "fast tracked". The first time they met with CNA was on Saturday a few weeks ago.
3.) The first 2 proposals were in buildings that were owned by individuals and this is a building in which it has 5 owner occupied residential condos and 1 commercial condo. Residential condo owners were given no advance notice by this City of Boston, commercial unit owner or the business proponents.
4.) This is an equity candidate and the other two were not.
What is the same:
1.) Zoning is residential & use is forbidden, same as 633 Tremont. Whereas, on Albany St it is a conditional use.
We need your support to spread the word about the meeting and send core members to the meeting that can ask the right questions. All suggestions on how to help are welcome.
Press will be there Thursday as you would guess.
Thank you,
Bob
