Yes, I was worried about the hole placement, angles, etc. I did run a photo of what I intended by Mel, so I hope they did not come out *all* wrong! But they are drilled, just not tapered yet. I made the inside edges of the adjacent pegs the same distance apart as the chanter strings [1" in this case], so the strings will go straight/parallel from the nut to their pegs. I hope that was a good plan. They really couldn't be much closer together without the peg tops interfering with each other, and they couldn't be much wider due to the sides of the head.
[My peghead's sides are 1/2" wider than it will be when completed.]
If anybody sees anything wrong with what I am doing at any stage, I hope they will tell me about it.

As you are carving your own pegheads, I strongly recommend that you talk to Mel Dorries. He had a local woodcarver friend make a head, but Mel said the peg holes came out all wrong! I'm not smart enough to know why, but Mel, being Mel, will be more than happy to explain the pitfalls and details.
