潘牧师要求活泉团/国语背诵约翰福音第十五章。共二十七句经文。这一章全是主耶稣在最后晚餐上对十一个门徒（判徒犹大已经在第十三章离开了）讲的最后最重要的话。可以说是主耶稣对他的教会说的临终的话。
听说戴德生就是因为这一章的前八节经文才明白了得胜的奥秘。
我是在周末读完下面这本书的。因为当时不知道俞成华是什么人。读了他儿子的回忆才知道他是个医生在1956年去世。缪牧师说他在上海时可能见过这位Dr. Yu.
坦率地说有几次我读得流眼泪。

后来，倪弟兄在《在基督里》（见《十二篮》11辑末）纠正了自己的看法：“戴德生先生不知花了多少工夫寻求得胜。他说，我总是求，神总是不给我。有一天，读《约翰福音》15章5节‘我是葡萄树，你们是枝子’的话，就立刻得了亮光。从此开始，他进入了基督徒的得胜生活的门。”
另一例是劳伦斯，他不大识字。神对待他就不同于戴德生了，神不是借用那节圣经——葡萄树和枝子，而是直接借用大自然中的受造之物的景象——冬天的树叶的凋零，到第二年春天，嫩芽又长了出来——来启示他，使他看见属灵生命的大能，由死亡得生命之大能，复活之大能，“神的永能和神性”（罗1:20）。从此他就开始撇弃世界，矢志爱神，四十年如一日。劳伦斯的窄门是这样进入的。』

[niv] Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
[asv] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.
