Speed Racer for Wii is really kind of similar to PS Wipeout, futuristic racer. It's on a colorful undulating track with loop-d-loops, very high speed racing, and there are weapons (Car-Fu, you bump other cars from side or behind, or flip over them). There are booster pick-ups that make you go even faster. Pretty sure there is intense electronic music on the soundtrack, but I usually turn the music volume off on games and play my home stereo. Speed Racer has some motion-controls, making it Wii-unique. Game can be found used or discounted.
I happen to like Wii racers, and my favorite is Excite Truck. Also good is ExciteBots, which can be considered futuristic in a way (but more of a dirt road racer, with some flying, lots of jumping, not an on-track racer like Wipeout and Speed Racer).
This is more of a shooter but it has a F-Zero vibe and Techno soundtrack. Not played it myself but it got a pretty good review and its only 700 points, worth a try maybe?
Unfortunatly there is nothing really like F-Zero until Nintendo get their fingers out and make one for Wii. Damn it
But there is another futuristic racer for the Wii, called Speed Zone/Wheelspin, which you might like. It's not very good, but when I tried it with a force feedback wheel it played decently. I remember it having a battle mode with different weapons, but I am not sure they could be used in normal races.
I've already got Gyrostarr, and it's pretty good, but not entirely what I'm looking for. As for why I want a futuristic racer with weapons - it's the same reason why someone would want to play Mario Kart: it's just fun, and utterly ridiculous. Only, I vastly prefer the futuristic aesthetic.
A game you must have is F-Zero for the Gamecube. It still looks incredible playing through the Wii in 480p. This is a FANTASTIC futuristic racer. You should be able to find it on E-bay or at a Gamestop. Just make sure you have a Gamecube controller and Gamecube memory card.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
