All,

I've been letting a lot of personal things get in the way of lining up speakers. Thankfully, it looks like we're coming out of flu season and my family is finally starting to be on the mend. This month, if anyone's interested, I'd kind of like to discuss kind of the state of HuntFunc. Things like:
  • Do we want to actively grow the group? If so, who has ideas?
  • We mostly have show-and-tell type presentations. Does anyone want me to try (or help me try) and line up guest speakers, maybe do some groupthink coding sessions (katas, etc.)?
  • Is Drew still cool booking a room for us at Radiance every month? If it's too much trouble, where would we want to move things?
Do we want to meet up in person tomorrow and figure this stuff out, or just handle it through the Google group? Also, Drew I don't know if you've reserved a room for us. If not, I'll figure something out if we want to meet up tomorrow.

I can't make it today.  Drew got us a room last month.  I'm still friendly with DealNews and we could migrate over there at some point.

We played around with a kata last time, but I think someone needs to be the stuckee for getting a development environment up and running before the meeting.  We got balled up with that last month.

I'd love to get the group larger.  Maybe we should push something out to the CS department at UAH.  Might be some young minds there we could influence.

I can make it. If Drew cannot host, I can probably find us a room here at Dynetics.

I stole moments from other extracurricular activities to get an F# .NET Core version of the Gilded Rose kata working. Well, the project is working, but I'm not finished with the kata yet.

One way to grow the group would be to set up a group on Meetup.com. That would advertise our existence to the surrounding community. It would also make it easier for current members to know when and where meetings are occurring.

I won't be able to come today.

Since it looks like it'd just be me and Brad, I'm gonna say we're cancelled for this month. Sorry Brad.

@Mark I've looked into meetup.com, and they want $15/month to list a meeting. I've been wanting to get us under one of the tech incubator groups (Rocket Hatch, Urban Engine, Catalyst), but I've been holding off until I get confirmed as a Rocket Hatch board member. I think they have existing meetup.com accounts that we'd be able to leverage. TL;DR - I agree that meetup.com would be good, but I want to see if there's a way I can use it for free.

@Brad do you have a refactored Gilded Rose on GitHub somewhere? I'd love to take a look at your impl.

@Bubba, glad to hear that you're still on good terms with DealNews. That would be a good space also. I definitely want to find some way to attract some college kids into the functional fold.

I'll try to get some for y'all to poke holes in for ideas for kind of a path forward for the next 9 months or so. Sound reasonable?
