As many of you know, the 9122 bus is extremely late today. The bus has been moving at a snail’s pace down 2nd Avenue; Sean finally took the subway up there and picked up Taegan from the bus at 5:20 and they had only made it as far as 82nd Street. He said that the kids were in a good mood, which is good to hear, but my understanding is that worried parents continue to wait from the bus without any sort of text or communication from the school or from the bus company (which is a different company from what we had in December, so I don’t even have their phone number anymore). We used to be able to call Alyssa Donchez or the bus company, and we used to get text alerts at the very least, but we don’t seem to have those options any more. Very frustrating – I sent an e-mail to Dawn Roy letting her know what was going on.

The cell phone number of the bus driver (Vivian) is 917-566-7049.

Thanks,

Devon Eisele

Devon - I am so glad you wrote this.  And mostly glad to hear you got Taegan. We waited an hour and could not reach Vivian and finally my husband found the bus on 87th and we got Cleo at 4pm!  Which i thought was late!  If I had known what would happen i certainly would have offered to bring a bunch of kids home and feed them, etc.  When i finally got that text after 7pm and heard how little progress the bus had made, i was in shock.  2nd Ave has been like a parking lot literally.

I was able to get the number to the bus company - it is 718-346-9600.  it is buried in an email from Dean Ketchum that was sent on Jan 2nd (only there is a  typo in the email and it says 719 for the area code, but it is incorrect).  I spoke 2 x to the dispatcher but they were not able to locate the bus.  Also apparently the DOE has the route listed incorrectly and the dispatcher was yelling at me that the route home is "down" 1st avenue therefore the bus - according to him - would not be stopping on 2nd. I tried to be calm and reasonable to no avail.  Anyhow, i think it makes sense for all of us to contact them and register our complaints for failure to notify us of the bus's location until a ridiculously late hour.  And also to have them correct the route on their end.  It might have been helpful if the bus had been able to turn off of 2nd avenue to Lexington or something. That might have helped if they could notify parents to change pickup location.

And i hope this won't happen again EVER but i am at the 82nd street pickup stop and any of you are welcome to ask me to get your child in this type of instance - my cell is 917-710-4436.   I would much prefer to bring them to my home than to think of them sitting on the bus all this time!

Julia
