On Wednesday, December 25th, Chief Master Sabu Lewis - founding instructor of Humble School of Martial Arts - hosts the school’s Annual Holiday Celebration at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza. All are welcome to attend and admission is free. Having only just relocated to Restoration this past October, after being forced out of Clinton Hill by rising rent costs, Master Sabu is settling in to Bed Stuy by doing what he does best: serving the community.
According to Master Sabu, “This is one of the most important parts of settling in. We’re a community-based institution and its our responsibility to serve. We’re grateful for our new home and the support that helped us into it. This is the season for gratitude and sharing...”
This will be the second event that Chief Master Sabu has hosted since relocating to Bedford Stuyvesant. The first was his Annual Thanksgiving Feast on November 28th. In addition to local residents, community leaders – who were supportive of the martial arts studio’s relocation efforts – also attended. Among them were Assemblyman Walter T. Mosley, Councilman Elect Robert E. Cornegy and Youth Advocate Khaair Morrison, who spent time casually interacting with members of the community.
Though the martial artist has hosted free holiday affairs annually, for well over a decade now, his events are essentially new to Bed Stuy’s Restoration Plaza. Chief Master Sabu and the Humble School of Martial Arts are a welcome presence in Bedford Stuyvesant.
Humble School of Martial Arts is located at 1406 Fulton Street - Bed Stuy Restoration Plaza - Bklyn, NY 11216. Their Annual Holiday Celebration will be held just a few doors down at 1368 Fulton Street - Bed Stuy Restoration Plaza - Community Room 2. Doors open at 12PM. All are welcome.
