Dear Friends

Please send this letter or in your own words about the approximately 200 Roma people in Sofia who have had their homes demolished by the authorities without due process. They are living in extremely precarious conditions. Municipal and state authorities have refused to support the families, and the central government has remained silent. Thanks! Tilly & Guy

Dear Mayor Vasil Terziev,

I am deeply concerned about the 200 Roma people–including children, the elderly and pregnant women–who have been evicted and left homeless. I understand only a few have been given alternative housing, and most are left without shelter or access to water, electricity, healthcare or education. They are living outdoor or in tents provided by volunteers.

I urge you to stop any further forced evictions and to ensure that everyone is provided with alternative adequate housing, as well as essential services such as medical care, social support, and education. I also call on you to establish a crisis working group that would work quickly to resolve the situation.

Sincerely
