Dear friends

Please send this letter or in your own words on behalf of Alaa Abd El Fattah. On Sunday he escalated a more than 200-day hunger strike by refusing to drink water. He has been in prison for much of the last decade.

He and human rights lawyer Mohamed Baker were convicted on bogus charges in December 2021, and sentenced to five and four years in prison, respectively, following a grossly unfair trial.

Please also share on social media. Thanks Tilly & Guy

Dear President el-Sisi

I am deeply worried that Alaa Abd El Fattah may soon die. As you know, for many months he was consuming only 100 calories a day to protest his unjust imprisonment and denial of consular visits.  Now he drinks and eats nothing.

Alaa Abd El Fattah has been in prison for most of the past decade. I understand that he and Mohamed Baker have been denied their right to adequate defence as their lawyers were prevented from communicating with them in private.

I strongly urge you to release Alaa Abd El Fattah and Mohamed Baker immediately and unconditionally and drop all charges against them.

Yours sincerely,
