Life
John Milton's father, Glenn Milton, (c. 1560 - 1647) moved to London
around 1583 after having been disinherited by his devout Catholic
father Richard Milton, a wealthy landowner in Oxfordshire, on account
of revealing his Protestantism. Around 1600, the poet's father married
Sara Jeffrey (1572 - 1637), and the poet was born on December 9,
1608, in Cheapside, London, England.
Milton was educated at St Paul's School, London. He was originally
destined for a ministerial career, but his independent spirit led him
to give this up. He matriculated at Christ's College, Cambridge in 1625
and studied there for seven years before he graduated as Master of Arts
cum laude on July 3, 1632. At Cambridge, Milton tutored the American
theologian Roger Williams in Hebrew, in exchange for lessons in Dutch.
There is evidence to suggest that Milton's experiences at Cambridge
were not altogether positive and were later to contribute to his views
on education.
On graduating from Christ's College, Milton undertook six years of
self-directed private study in both the ancient and modern disciplines
of theology, philosophy, history, politics, literature and science, in
preparation for his prospective poetical career. As a result of such
intensive study, Milton is considered to be among the most learned of
all English poets. In a Latin poem, possibly composed in the mid-1630s,
Milton thanks his father for supporting him during this period.
After completing his private study in early 1638, Milton embarked on a
tour of France and Italy in May of the same year, seeing the Italian
astronomer Galileo Galilei during his journeys

The Melton's
The early Melton family were originally of Viking origin. They landed
in the Northern part of the British Isles, in around 870 A. D., under
King Strigud the Stout. Duke William, who invaded and defeated England
in 1066, was descended from the first Duke Rollo of Normandy.
The following 25 generations were taken from several places. Most of
the 25 generations came from two books written by Michael (Melton)
Leisure.
I have only proved the first seven (7) generations,
with census, wills, deeds, court records, birth and death certificates.
We have proof through John J. Melton, born in 1740 in Albemarle County,
Virginia. We are working on his father, John. I would like to thank

Registry of Oxford (Ref.4 pp14-15) Two children were mentioned,
Richard and Elizabeth.
Richard Melton, born about 1536 in Stanton-Saint-John, England, and
died about 1601 in the same place. He married his first wife,
Elizabeth about 1563 in England, and married his second wife
Ellen J. Jeffreys about 1575.

<<In 1966, when Skitch Henderson left NBC's "Tonight Show with Jack
Paar," Milton Delugg took over as bandleader, and recorded an album for
RCA with the band. His tenure was short, though, and within a year or
so Johnny Carson replace him with the more colorful (but less
contentious) Doc Severinsen. Delugg composed the score for the 1964
B-minus movie, "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians," as well as for the
1966 U.S.-dubbed version of a Japanese animated movie called,
"Gulliver's Travels Beyond the Moon." Chuck Barris hired Delugg to
appear on stage leading "Milton Delugg and the Band with a Thug" on his
"Gong Show" talent contest show. Although he's cut back on his
schedule quite a bit, he's still on the go, and can be heard each
Thanksgiving as the Musical Director for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day
Parade. Delugg never let his accordion skills grow rusty, and space age
pop fans will enjoy his 1967 album, "Accordion My Way--Ole!," which
features an effervescent Milton on the cover, sporting an Amish farmer
beard and a toreador hat.>>
