John Heminges,
sometimes spelled Heming, Heminge, Hemminge or Hemings
(25 November 1556 – 10 October 1630)

was an English Renaissance actor. Most noted now as
one of the editors of William Shakespeare's 1623 First Folio,
Heminges served in his time as an actor and
financial manager for the King's Men.

A Shakespeare Encyclopaedia - Page 311

<<Heminges was apparently able to secure special favors for his
company from *Sir Henry Herbert*, the Master of the Revels. Bentley
cites the following, based on entries in *Sir Henry Herbert*'s office-
book:

1623, Aug. 19 - Herbert reallowed _The WInter's Tale_ 'on Mr.
Hemmings his worde that there was nothing profane added or reformed,
thogh the allowed booke was missinge.'

1627, Apr. 11 - '[Received] from Mr. Hemming, in their company's
name, to forbid the playing of Shakespeare's plays, to the Red Bull
Company, this 11 of April, 1627'>>
