I got sick on 6. December, went to the doc on 7th dec, he told me it
was bronchitis, and
definitely not swineflu because it was bacterial not viral, and gave
me an
antibiotic.

The next day I ran a high fever on 8th dec, on 9th.dec I phoned for an
a appointment saying I
couldn't get the fever down, the doctor told me it was necessary for
me to come and see
him, it would take three days for the antibiotic to work.

On thurs 10.12.2009 I went to another doctor at that center,
she gave me a second antibiotic, on Saturday 12.12.09 I was
coughing bloody mucus and went into hospital,
on Monday evening they told me it was H1N1 pneumonia - swineflu -
on Tuesday morning I couldn't breathe and seriously thought it was all
over. It was horrible.
I was isolated in a room with a toilet but no shower, I was not
allowed out, I was freaking out.

They pumped a saline solution into me, I gained 3,3 kilos (!!!) in 30
hours, I shouted at
them "I don't want to have kidney failure caused by the hospital, take
that saline stuff
away!"
They admitted that they had given me too much, and that the water had
been seeping into
my lungs, which made breathing even worse. (Just what you need when
you have pneumonia
- additional water seeping into your lungs)

By Monday 21.December they let me go home, I was fine till supper when
I ate half
a grilled chicken and half an orange, then threw up all night (I never
throw up -
shows you how bad it was.)

On Tuesday the die-oh-rear started. I did a good imitation of a water
sprinkler - greenish
algae-filled water 5-7 times a day - till Sunday 27th Dec. (Bon
appetit!) My limbs were trembling, and
I had to drink litres and litres of salted broth, coca cola, sugared
black tea, - and eat
bananas, rice, dried apricots - in short, stuff I NEVER consume - but
at least I
didn't have to take my blood pressure tablets. Just started taking
those again yesterday.

It was really horrible, and if you haven't had a vaccination, maybe
you might want
to get one, because - from a woman who has had bronchitis 8 times and
pneumonia
5 times - I can tell you I NEVER felt so bad.

This after my poor husband had a heart attack on 20. Septermber and
had to
have a stent put in one of the clogged arteries...now we BOTH have to
rebuild our strength.

Anyway, I lost 6 kilos, 2 came back, 4 kilos stayed off , which is a
good thing,
because I was beginning to feel I couldn't lose weight at all.

But on the other hand, others are worse off.

Yeah, I've had a bad back for three months combined with an arthritic
hip. The back is okay now, but the hip is still bad. Hey, thanks for
managing to survive, Melanie!

MM:
Christopher Marlowe (Holy Spirit) must have decided that you should
continue living. You might consider lacto-vegetarianism. It's a
better diet for spiritually inclined people.

Melanie, I'm so sorry. You've been through so much. I hope you and
your husband are both feeling better now.

And to everybody else: Melanie's right. Get your flu and swine flu
shots.

Dear Ms. Mouse, dear Sir Bob, dear MM Lackpurity, dear everyone,
I was okay. I am okay. You'all have been through tough times too.
This is what humans do. We have tough times and we get through
them - or at least we try to. The 12th victim of H1N1 in Switzerland
was a 33 year old woman/girl who had no asthma like me, no
overweight-adipositas like me, no weakened lungs like me, no
nothing, just a few years of life, and she died. So I'm really really
lucky. We all are.

Poor Sir Bob - I'm so sorry for your pain, my husband and
I have (lesser) pains in back and hip, so I can relate. Hang in
there. I know that you, Ms. Mouse, have had some un-publicized
health problems in the past - I mean, most of us here are over
forty, therefore we are suffering from aches and pains and ills
and losses, and we get through them. We will survive.

I was watching a Channel 4 programme on the Tsunami
catastrophe and how the survivors said that the fact they
survived and others didn't made them want to live their
lives very fully to compensate for those who could no
longer do so, and I feel the same way.
Life is really precious, and one must try to put as much
as one can of oneself into every day, and make the
most of one's talents.

So - your posts made me very sentimental and very
full of affection for you all, and before I get really soppy
and say something that the bitchy me will regret,
I'll just be formal and wish you all a really happy
new year and may all your wishes come true -
the good ones, that is!

Oh, lets be soppy and quote old Winston C.:
"Lift up your hearts, all will come right, and out of the
depths of despair and sacrifice the glory of mankind will rise
again".
