for those interested...
note, they seem to think
he was born on April 26
which may not be true.

And if all goes well, we'll have the first piece of Oxfordian evidence.

He was baptized on April 26th 1564. He *died* April 23rd 1616.
That he was born on April 23rd too is just a guess.

In case anyone has not seen John Kennedy's absolutely delightful
compilation of a few representative (if farcical) anti-Stratfordian
"facts," by all means check it out at
<http://pws.prserv.net/jwkennedy/antistrats.html>.
Mr. Streitz is responsible for five or six amusing entries. His book
contains many more that are even funnier but unfortunately don't lend
themselves as readily to the format of John's brief entries.
The updated version is really delightful -- but I fear that you may
be doing Art a disservice by omitting at least two great
aneuendor...@comicass.nut classics:
(1) Anne Hathaway was Shakespeare's mother,
and
(2) Virgil predated Herodotus.
Also, it seems a shame to omit some of the choice ones in from the
Altschuler preprint:
(1) If Shakespeare's plays do not make explicit mention of certain
scientific discoveries, then it is reasonable to assume that he was dead
by the time those discoveries were made,
and
(2) The Edward de Vere proposed as author of Shakespeare's plays was
the thirteenth Earl of Oxford.
Done.
An educated guess, Peter--since it was the custom to baptize babies
within two or three days of their birth, or so I've read. But when was
he baptized by our calendar? 16 April? 36 April? Ten days one way or
the other, I recall. (Yeah, the 36 is a joke.)

Great -- and congratulations on such an amusing compilation! There
must be more great material, but I just can't think of any offhand. I
suspect that PWDBard, Mr. Paraleresis, and one or two others are being
unjustly neglected, but that oversight probably owes to their effusions
being too incoherent to permit parsing, let alone paraphrasing.
The Gregorian Calendar was not introduced until 1582, so the question
is, strictly, meaningless. But if you were to project it backward, then
Shakespeare was baptized on May 6, N.S.
This is the month of October, 1582, as it was observed in Rome.
