namastubhyam,

I heard this from a friend recently and it tickled me no end:

ushTraaNaam cha gruhe lagnam, gardabha: shantipaaThaka: |
ekamekam prashansati aho rupam aho dhwani: ||

rough translation:

At a marriage at the Camel's house, the Donkey officiates
Praising each other, they say "what a figure!", "what a voice!"

[corrections to the above wrt spelling/translation most welcome]

What made it funny for me is that its a huge departure from most of the
philosophical/religious sanskrit I'd heard before.

Does anyone have other examples like this?

thanks,

Shrirang

('/'/'/'&&putchar(inn['-'-'-' ][ in]-'/'/'/'+'+'-'+')&&main(in+'/'/'/',inn));}

Here are a couple:

markatasya suraapaanam vRischikena cha damshanam |
tanmadhye buuthasanchaaram yadvaa tadvaa bhaviShyathi ||

[When a monkey consumes alchohol, is bitten by a scorpion and possessed by a
ghost, anything and everything can happen.]

vaidyaraaja namastubhyam yamaraajasahodara |
yamo harathi nah praaNaan vaidyah praaNaan dhanaani cha ||

[ Salutations to the doctor, the brother of yama. Yama only takes our
lives, the doctor takes our lives and our money. ]

vahnim prajvalitham dRuShtvaa vaidyo vismayamaagathah |
naaham gatho na me bRaathaa kasyaayam hasta laghavam ||

[On seeing a burning fire (at a funeral), the doctor wonders: I didn't go
to (treat) this patient, neither did my brother; so whose sleight of hand
is this? ]
