The library that I went to is dedicated to art. It is a small private
college. They want more inventory but will have to accumulate over the
years. You can get almost anything for art classes but the common
things like regular literature or things in the sciences are not on
the shelves. The staff is great and they have students doing work
study also.
I go to the Rhode Island School of Design. Here at RISD there are two
libraries available to students (as well as those at Brown University)
The RISD library and the Athenaem are very well stocked and the staff,
usually students, are really helpful. The full time librarians are
very knowledgable of the stock and of certain topics. There's a lot of
great books on art history, english, design, and a huge range of
artists in these libraries, but those are the only subjects that I've
searched for, if there's anything else I haven't looked for it yet.
The RISD libraries are extremely important for design, they serve to
educate, as well as inspire. The RISD museum does this as well.
