For the aspiring emergency managers out there, the following webcast is being offered by IAEM (International Association of Emergency Managers) as part of the CEM (Certified Emergency Manager) program.  [For the rest, the CEM is a professional certification that requires a certain amount of accredited course work in addition to experience, recommendations from managers, and other qualifications.]  I'll be speaking as part of the program on the Sahana Software Foundation's and other open source and volunteer efforts that we worked with to support better information management during the Haiti earthquake response.

Best regards,
Mark

He will address how non-profit free and open source software projects are contributing valuable disaster information management capabilities to emergency and first responders, based on a case study of the response to the Haiti earthquake, and including an analysis of the contributions of such open source projects as Sahana, Ushahidi, InSTEDD, Google and other technology companies.
