Disaster Management - Haiti Earthquake - IAEM Live Webcast
Series
January 27, 2011 - 1pm to 5pm EST
In the first of a monthly 4-hour live webcast series presented
by IAEM and the Knowledge Foundation, webcast participants
will have the opportunity to learn valuable disaster
management lessons drawn from last year's earthquake in Haiti.
At 3:00pm on January 27, Mark
Prutsalis, President & CEO of Sahana Software Foundation,
will present a case study on how open source technology can be
a new model for collaboration by traditional and
non-traditional emergency management organizations. He will
address how non-profit free and open source software projects
are contributing valuable disaster information management
capabilities to emergency and first responders, based on a
case study of the response to the Haiti earthquake, and
including an analysis of the contributions of such open source
projects as Sahana, Ushahidi, InSTEDD, Google and other
