Dear Vanessa Goncalves Ferreira Vasquez,

Thank you very much for reaching out to our group. The Pittsburgh Freethought Community would be delighted to participate in the International Day of Peace event on September 21.  I will attend the August 10 planning meeting and likely participate in the event. I look forward to meeting you and the other organizers and participants on the 10th; in the meantime we will use the information you provided to help promote the event.

(For your records, the Pittsburgh Freethought Community, Inc. (PFC) is an incorporated 501(c)(3) organization whose members and mission echoes that of the former Center for Inquiry Pittsburgh volunteer branch,  which no longer exists. It became necessary to form the new PFC organization  in order to expand the programs and impact of the former volunteer group.)

Thanks again for the invitation to such a worthy event, see you on the 10th!

Dear Dana Morganroth,

We would like to invite you and the members of The Pittsburgh Freethought Community of the Center for Inquiry to attend the International Day of Peace event, to be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Mary on the Mount Roman Catholic Church on Grandview Avenue in the Mt. Washington neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

The event, Peace Like a River: A Three Rivers Celebration of the International Day of Peace, hopes to bring together members of the regional groups, the international organizations, and the interfaith communities, in and around Pittsburgh, in a celebratory co-mingling that moves forward the peace initiative in 2017. Below is a print-ready announcement that can be used to advertise the event.

But our invitation to the IDP service extends even deeper. Using the symbol of water with the idea of peace, we hope to give voice to each group during the service itself - a chance to make a statement for peace in one’s own tradition.

To that end, we would like to invite you to our next planning meeting on Thursday, August 10 at 7 p.m. in Sullivan Hall, 115 Bingham Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15211. During the meeting, we will lay out the order of service and the ways in which each group can participate.

And, even if you or your representatives are not able to attend the planning meeting, we would still like to include you in the service.

And so, we ask the following:

May we have the name(s) and contact information of representative(s) who would be interested in coming to the planning table on 8/10 to plan the peace event?

May we have the name(s) and contact information of representative(s) who would like to participate in the service?

Could you use the announcement included in the email to publicize the event for us?

Thank you so much.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,
Rev. Rebecca M. Cartus (FCM)
Sister Barbara Finch (CSJ)
Vanessa Vasquez (MoMoMahr SS)
