Hi, everyone!
This e-mail is to advise you all of the latest information about the Humanist Community of Pittsburgh.
For a while now there have been informal discussions about the future of HCP, especially vis-à-vis other likeminded groups in Pittsburgh. Last night 12/21/16, more formal discussion was held with some of our HCP members (including the officers) and our counterparts from the Center for Inquiry (CFI).
We discussed the possibility of our two groups merging. The joint assembled group expressed our intention of setting up a transition process to aid in moving forward to merger. We believe that such action will be to the mutual benefit of both our groups as well as to the benefit of Freethought in Pittsburgh.
To that end, the 5 HCP members including the two officers; President John Burchfield and Secretary Leo Nagorski, voted on and passed four motions:
#1 To initiate the process with the intent of merger; with the stipulation of HCP stakeholder approval.
#2 That the current HCP Board will continue in office for the interim period until merger.
#3 That John Hooper be elected to fill the vacant Treasurer position on the HCP Board.
#4 That Dana Morganroth be elected to serve as an interim Board member.
That is a summary of last night’s discussion.
Now, it is your turn! In accord with the first motion we passed, we want your vote on this issue:
“A quorum of HCP members (including officers) is recommending that HCP initiate a process to merge HCP with CFI.”
Please vote YES or No. Voting ends 12/26/16.
Thank-you.
Respectfully submitted,
Leo Nagorski, Secretary, Humanist Community of Pittsburgh

Hi, all.
Well, the polls have closed. There were a total of six (6) votes cast and registered. All six votes were in favor of merger of the Humanist Community of Pittsburgh and the Center for Inquiry..
This means that the process toward merger can begin as soon as possible.
Thanks to everyone who voted! We will keep you updated as things progress.
