Subject: MS/PhD Studentships at Georgia Tech
The Digital Media graduate program at Georgia Tech offers a flexible course of study that combines theory and practice in a unique approach to media making, and other forms of applied humanities scholarship. Students work closely with their advisors and combine classes from across the Institute in line with their research interests. The program offers both an MS and a PhD degree, and admits about 15 MS and 4 PhD students each year.
This year, in conjunction with a new initiative funded by a $1M grant from the Mellon Foundation to pursue the intersection of digital humanities and civic engagement, we are offering up to three funded studentships (either MS or PhD) for applicants whose educational and professional backgrounds and/or future research interests can help us explore this intersection.
Students with a strong background in a humanities discipline, including but not limited to English, Film/Media Studies, Africana/Black Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Art History; and with demonstrable knowledge of-- or interest in-- the tools and techniques of digital media making are particularly encouraged to apply. A familiarity with the field of digital humanities is also welcome.
The application deadline for both the MA and PhD program is January 8th.
