Dear All
ESA have scheduled our business meeting for the Tuesday lunch time break
of 11:30 to 1:15pm - no venue advised yet. So that is Tuesday 3rd of
August. Please put this in your diaries and do try to attend. It will be
good to use a decent turn out to help build our section both in terms of
membership but also for future engagement with ESA.
Please pass this date on to other potentially interested parties.

Cheers
Rob

Do we want to meet at a local Pittsburgh place for our lunch or maybe after our meeting?  I seem to remember one of us knows the city and could pick a good place.

Hi Beth
Anyone?
Erle knows someone who he hopes will suggest a venue for an early
evening social gathering, but all suggestions welcome.
A couple of us who head Human Ecology Programs and have access to some
small discretionary funds were thinking of putting some kind of tab on
the bar. Then we could invite folk to this gathering and have either
discounted or free drinks for signed up section members until the tab
was gone.
I assume this is something a US bar would be happy to do?
The section is too small to have a formal ESA endorsed mixer but we are
free to put notices up and advertise it around the venue. The suggestion
then is that we hold our social on the Tuesday arvo - same day as the
business meeting?
Suggestions please. It is important that we maximise recruitment at this
meeting and then get some enthusiasm for ongoing section activity.

Cheers
Rob

Hi Rob et al

What's the decision here....?  When is our symposium?  If it's after the business meeting, maybe we could have the 'get together' after both.

Also, do we want to caucus on Monday evening before the business meeting?

Hi Rich
All this info went out but I attach here.
Business meeting on Tuesday
Proposed meeting get together on Tuesday evening
Symposium on Thursday
Who would caucus on Monday?

I don't know Pittsburgh and neither does Erle but we have chased through
a recommendation for a venue. I am waiting for a reply as to whether we
need to formally book a back room or something and if there is any
trouble with putting money on the bar to run a tab.

I'm all booked in to the Weston - travelling with my daughter

Cheers

All. You will see that ESA have gone public with the conference program
and our symposium is listed.
For reasons I am not to sure about they have changed the run order. I am
going to be changing it back as there was a logic to the sequence that
speakers appeared in the version that we submitted. But we can start to
drum up interest for what I think should be a very good session.

http://eco.confex.com/eco/2010/techprogram/index.htm

I draw your attention to a complimentary session being run by Paul
Ehrlich around his Millennium Assessment of Human Behaviour on the
Wednesday morning.
Anyone out there know Pittsburgh better than Erle? (I am excused since I
live in Australia). We have had August Henry's Bar recommended - anyone
able to second that?

Look forward to seeing you all soon now
Cheers
Rob

Dear all, unfortunately I won't be able to attend these events, as I hope
to be giving birth somewhat shortly thereafter! But I'll do my best to
promote the section and human ecology more generally from home as always,
and hope to see you all in 2011. Best wishes, Charlotte
