i don't see very much human in this proposal . . .
obviously ecosystem services are by definition services of benefit to humans, but beyond that superficial connection, the symposium has simply relabeled "marine ecosystem biophysical processes" as "ecosystem services" . . .
for example, the discussion of tradeoffs in the lester talk could be combined with the discussion of valuation in the tallis talk and feed into a discussion of policy decision making in the sandifer talk; but it does not appear from the description that this is intended . . . doing that would require additional discussion of how humans deal with tradeoffs in marine ecosystem services, of multiple modes and arenas of valuation of marine ecosystem services, and of the policy process . . . i don't see that any of those are there in the proposal . . .

all that said, if no one else wants our endorsement, and there are not any alternative proposals with more human content, i'm inclined to be collegial and give them our endorsement . . .

cheers,

Subject: {Human Ecology @ ESA} Endorsement Request

Dear All
I have been contacted seeking our Section's endorsement of the attached symposium proposal on Marine Ecosystem Services.
We have two secondary endorsements that we can hand out - to date I know of no other request for our support but let me know if you have an opinion on this one. We have until early next week.
Cheers
Rob

I am new to this, but our Section would seem to have potential relationships to agroecology, urban ecology and applied ecology sections, and that is something we could be looking to develop this year.  Cross endorsement is maybe one way to go, although it is a bit late (urban ecology have already allocated their secondaries - we are waiting to hear from agro). So far though, this marine request is the only one we have received, so whilst I agree the 'human ecology' component is a bit limited we could support it if it remains the only request we get.
Cheers
Rob
