Description of duties: Ph.D. students expecting to complete their doctoral degree by summer 2024 are invited to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Toronto. The postdoctoral fellow will work primarily and jointly with Dr. Matthew Feinberg (Rotman School of Management) and Dr. Spike W. S. Lee (cross-appointed in the Rotman School of Management and Department of Psychology) and will be encouraged to collaborate with other faculty members and doctoral students.
Research community: At the University of Toronto, numerous researchers from diverse backgrounds and across academic units are actively working on the research themes noted above. Regular meetings, seminars, and conferences are run by multiple communities, such as the Social Personality Research Group, Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society, Data Sciences Institute, Centre for Ethics, Morality Lab, Mind and Body Lab, Computational Social Science Lab, and many more. On top of these, ongoing colloquia happen at relevant departments such as Organizational Behavior and Marketing. Beyond the University of Toronto, many researchers affiliated with nearby universities live in Toronto and are part of our vibrant network.
Expected start date and term: The target start date for the position is August 1, 2024, or as early as possible thereafter. This extramurally funded appointment will be for a term of two years, with the opportunity of renewal for additional years.
FTE (Full-Time Equivalent): The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral fellow, recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and training and the needs of the supervisor’s research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.
Required qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in social/personality psychology, sociology, political science, organizational behavior, cognitive science, or a closely related field by the time they start the Postdoctoral Fellowship. Publications, demonstrated interest, and theoretical depth within the research areas listed above are required. Expertise in rigorous and cutting-edge research methods (e.g., field experiment, computational social science) and advanced skills in data wrangling, visualization, and analysis will be prioritized.
