Dear HCC members:

A guest speaker from one of the world's top design and innovation consulting companies-Continuum, will be coming to Hult IBS.

On January 28th, 2010 at 1:10pm, Anthony Pannozzo, who is a Principle with the company will discuss "Innovation in Emerging Markets" as well as discuss Internship opportunities currently available at the Newton, MA based company. This speaker will be made available to the entire school, not just the consulting club members.

SPACE IS LIMITED TO ONE CLASSROOM, SO PLEASE RSVP ASAP!

This will be one of the highest profile guest speaker that has come into Hult thus far this year so its important that our students understand the importance of attending- plus there is a good possibility to develop an ongoing relationship in terms of job opportunities.

Thank you.
Ahmad

A bit of background on Continuum (ref: wikipedia):

Continuum is a design and innovation consultancy based in Newton, Massachusetts, with other offices in Los Angeles, Milan, and Seoul. The company’s core disciplines include Industrial Design, Design strategy, Service Design, Human Factors, Interaction Design, Sustainable Design, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.[1]

The company was founded in Boston as Design Continuum in 1983.[2] Their goal was simple: to design products for businesses. Since then, the mission has grown to include strategy and brand services along with experience and product design.[3]

The firm now employs approximately 200 people across its 3 offices.[3] The company has worked with clients in industries including: medical, consumer, computer, automotive, hospitality, and financial services. Project work includes the Swiffer for Procter & Gamble.[4] , the Reebok Pump [5] , and the initial design direction for the MIT Media Lab's $100 laptop[6] .

The company has won 14 IDSA/BusinessWeek International Design Excellence Awards since 2003.[7] Practitioners at the company have been featured in the book A Whole New Mind by Daniel H. Pink.[8] During the summer of 2007, the company hosted the finale of the PBS series, “Design Squad,” a show that encourages kids to explore design and engineering as a career path.[9]

Dear HCC:

I apologize in advance for flooding your mailboxes with emails, however this is a really exciting time for the HCC.

As we discussed at the beginning of the year, taking on real-time consulting projects is something that most of you said you would like to participate in.

In the upcoming weeks, we will be putting together teams to work on the following three consulting projects that the HCC has been able to bring in.

Edible Arrangements, http://www.ediblearrangements.com - Currently operating 500+ retail locations across the US.  Focus will be Growth and Expansion (International)

One Laptop Per Child,
www.laptop.org - A non-profit with a mission of getting a laptop into the hands of every school age child from around the world.  Focus will be Sustainability.

Mexican Residential Mortgages - A private consulting company is doing some work for an undisclosed company looking to penetrate the high-growth mortgage (residential bank home loan) market.  They need our international expertise and help. The emergence of the middle class in Mexico is causing a housing boom and supply shortage.  Focus will be on Innovations in Finance in Emerging Markets.

Those of you that have attended IXL training classes will be able to apply the skill sets you have learned to the projects.  Also, this experience will better prepare your for your ALP in Module D. If you are interested in participating in any one of the projects please let us know.

Thank you.
Ahmad
