There was a thread on this last year (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/hugo-discuss/images/hugo-discuss/wHH6pqNSyHg/lMPXjj32l6IJ), but I figured that hugo has probably evolved significantly since then, so I'm asking again.

I'd like to keep the static content associated with a given piece of dynamic content (for example, images embedded in a post) in the same directory in the generated html. Is there any way to put images in /content and have them moved properly, or somehow mark them as associated with a given piece of markdown content?

Thanks!
Cheers,
Josh

+1 for the feature request.  I do this on my (currently jekyll-powered) site, so that I can have simple img tags like <img src="foo.jpg">.  Images, videos, etc are (or can be) just as much the "content" of a post as the text.  I've never liked treating them as something different.

Currently, I have a jekyll plugin that moves them to same final output directory,  but would love to see Hugo support this more cleanly.

I've got some ideas on doing this in a really clean way. I'm hoping to get some time to code it up in the next week or two.

Has there been any development on that topic? Couldn't find any info.

I support this feature request, since the content creation is folder based (you already have the folder open, if not writing in vim etc) and just putting the linked images into the same folder would greatly improve the workflow.

Best regards,
Michael
