O.K. I sent 2 mails to this group with no replay. So in order to get a
response I have to subscribe to google which I dislike (to be honest).
I compiled and installed 2009.4.0.4742 on my Ubuntu 8.10 64bit system.
Everything works fine except the control point generation. In fact,
autopano-sift-c creates numerous keypoints but, in the end, not a
single one gets added to the control point list. I tried this for a
few panoramic image sequences without luck. Test images can be
provided.

Using autopano-c-complete.sh -o test.pto image1 image2... creates a
pto file which works nicely with hugin. Thus, I changed the control
point detector to autopano-c-complete.sh with arguments --output %o --
points %p %i. The problem I mentioned is likely due to the default
arguments --maxmatches %p --projection %f,%v %o %i for autopano-sift-
c, and possibly the non-invocation of octave. At least I get control
points now and can go ahead.

What version of autopano-sift-C are you using? anything prior to
2.5.1 has major problems.

You need to use 2.5.1, the autopano-sift-c trunk is broken for the --
projection parameter.

Dear Bruno,

thanks for the hint. With 2.5.1 everything works as anticipated.
