I have been reading the Hugin Exclude mask tutorial and unless I missed something, it seems to be focused on LDR stitching. I am having trouble seeing how to apply a mask to stitching HDR images, e.g., two sets of three exposures each (six images).

As I see it, unless I wanted to work on six separate images, I would have to apply the mask after merging the three exposures into one image, but before stitching the two merged HDR images.

The only way that I can envision masking an HDR image would be to first merge in Photomatix and then stitch in Hugin; is there a way to merge, mask, and stitch workflow directly in Hugin?

You can use include or exclude masks on just one image in a stack, or for every image in that stack - Bruno

Thank you.
If I understand you correctly:
I would first load all 18 shots into Hugin e.g., 6 stacks of three images each.
Then, I would select the 0EV images the contain the ghost and mask them.
After masking “0EV” images, I would then be able to push the stitch button.

Yes, and hope that the other brackets have enough information to fill the hole in the 0ev shots - Bruno
