Photos taken on iPhone X with 180 degree fisheye won't fill entire 360x180 area with hugin

I'm experimenting with creating 360x180 equirectangular panoramas using my iPhone with a 180 degree fisheye lens.  I take 8 photos spun around in a circle.  I have a trial version of ptgui and it has no problem importing them, stitching and exporting a true 360x180 panorama, however when I try to do the same with hugin, They seem to stitch fine, however I cannot get them to fill the space "vertically".  It creates a long, narrow panorama which is no good when I want to output a true 2:1 panorama.  I've been pulling my hair out here for days trying to figure this out with no luck.

Maybe the output projection is set to something other than equirectangular  or the fov of the images is incorrect. But without further information is difficult to say.

Can you upload the image files and the pto file somewhere so we can have a look?
