Hey Hugin, Long time no seen!  I hope everybody is doing well and everything is humming along.

I have received an email from Google because they are shutting down Google Code ("GC") [1].  Some Hugin code from past Google Summer of Code ("GSoC") participation is hosted there and requires attention.  Specifically, I received notice for the 2007 [2] and 2008 [3] GSoC.

While Google's general advice is to migrate to GitHub and that migration has been automated, in my opinion nothing on GC is worth preserving.  If memory serves me well, the upload to GC was just an administrative necessity to ensure students get paid by Google.  Hugin students worked on Subversion ("SVN") branches at Sourceforge ("SF") and their work is still preserved on SF and was migrated from SVN to Mercurial.  See [4] for example.

Unless somebody objects before March 27 (two weeks from now), I will ask the GC projects to be deleted.  Other admins can do this too by clicking on the menu Administer -> Advanced -> Delete project button.

The alternative is to use the Project moved button on the Administer -> Advanced page, and create a redirect to hugin.sf.net for the remaining life of GC.  Would you prefer me to do this instead?

Best,
Yuv

Hi Yuv, yes I agree, I'm pretty sure we have nothing of any interest stored in Google code.

I am, but we already discussed that off-list :)

I’ve also got such an email for GSoC 2011.
The only code available on Google Code for this year is Mikolaj Leszczynskis Enblend seam-finding optimizations [1].
I’m not aware if these optimisations are in the hugin source tree.
If yes, I could also delete this project from Google Code or create the redirect, as Yuv mentions.

Cheers,
Habi
