Hi Folks and thanks for existing,

I'm returning to a project that involves qtvr and while I successfully made some panoramas with Hugin a year ago, I'm having trouble now.

In my attempt to make a simple cylindrical panorama I'm using 8 images and manually making control points (can't find autopano-SIFT, BTW). Every attempt so far results in a pan that is vertical (sometimes squished), instead of spread out horizontally. I've looked at my previous success pans and I can't see what is different. The image here is a screenshot of the pan preview. Do you have suggestions/tips for me?

Thanks so much,
Jack

Update ... I downloaded the 2014 version (That I couldn't find until I found it here, for some reason.) and there is a whole new interface. Anyway, now Hugin is outputting an upside down image, and I haven't been able to correct it. I've tried flipping it in PS with no luck. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Not sure what PS is.
You should be able to drag the image in the Fast Panorama preview.
Go to the "Move/Drag' tab and then with right mouse somewhere off centre,
drag to rotate the image to how you want it, then stitch.

Thank you for the suggestion, Terry. PS is Photoshop.

So I need to rotate the images before stitching? I tried it with the stitched image and it distorted the image (making it snake about). The image list shows the images (all shot vertically) sideways, BTW. I found an entry in the FAQ about upside down images ... it said to look for the Num. Trans. buttons in Preview, but those buttons don't exist, from what I can see.

I sure would like to get this solved ... I've spent hours and it must be so simple. :(

After alignment (in simple interface) or after optimisation (in advanced
and expert interface), but before stitching, you should be able to go
through whatever move/drag you want in the Preview to position the image
as you would like.
Rotate using right mouse, move using the left mouse.
The "snaking about" results from moving the viewpoint up or down. Rotate
first to get it more or less level then move to centre it.
It might also help to set "Detect vertical lines" in "File->Preferences"
"Assistant" tab. If verticals are detected hugin will be able to
automatically level the pano.

I have a similar problem, on an irregular basis. If the panorama comes
out ok, but standing on its head, go to the Fast Preview Panorama
(expert interface) - Move/Drag Tab. There you will find Yaw, Pitch and
Roll. Enter 180 in the Roll box, click Apply. This will rotate the
whole image 180 degrees around the centre.

The spit in the wind and turn three times counterclockwise step: The
180 will stay in the box, but I usually enter 0 and click apply again.
Not sure if I leave the 180 how it will affect later stages, but
entering 0 has never caused problems.

Guten Tag, Groetnis!

Your tip worked … I think I've used that process previously but I wasn't able to draw it out of the gray matter. ;)

Danke, Tschüss!
